Sugar...

This year lent is coming early for me...Scott has been trying to convince me for YEARS to cut back on my love with sugar. I'd usually just laugh it off and eat another bite of candy. Sadly, my husband's advice over the years never set in. Last week in my boot camp class I had my measurements taken and a fat test completed. My trainer convinced me to stop eating sugar...and it finally hit me and it opened my eyes to the effects sugar has on my body. My obsession with candy, sweets, desserts, marshmallows...and more...it needed to stop. So, as of last week I quit cold turkey...no more sugar for this girl. No more candy. I will continue to carry this "sacrifice" into the season of lent. We'll see how this goes...

Queen or King?

We finally made a decision!! We decided to keep our Queen bed and get new bedroom furniture. After all that, we still have to wait 8-10 weeks while our Amish bedroom furniture is hand made. We are so excited to finally have some quality bedroom furniture for once. I can't wait to share a picture of the finished product...but you'll have to wait ;)

Here are a few of the sample pictures to give you an idea...

Friday Night Fun with Krew

No Hockey game on a Friday means we finally get to have a fun low key Friday night with the neighbors. We went over to The Rogstad's house and Scott got to spend some quality time with baby Krew. We grilled out, had a few beers and margaritas in honor of Krew, and then played a hilarious game of Scattergories. We had an amazing time with our friends and new parents. Krew even stayed up late and played games with us. It was a perfect night in the neighborhood. Thanks Rogstad's!

Paulaka 2011 :)

Over the weekend we started Paulaka 2011. Bridget came to town and the celebration was kicked off with a fun family dinner and a movie on Saturday night. The celebration continued on Sunday with a delicious brunch at The Great Dane. Mom's Birthday was on Monday and many offices, including Bridget & Casey's, observed her Birthday by giving their employees the day off. Unforunately her employer didn't observe her holiday ;)...the celebration isn't over yet...so keep on celebrating Mom :)

Valentine's Day...

After many days of teasing Scott with surprises it was finally time for me to unveil my big plans. I told Scott to be ready to leave the house on Saturday morning by 10:30am. He had no idea where we were going. He kept begging me to tell him but I managed to keep a secret. If he would have co-operated I would have blind folded him. We pulled up to RZ & Company (the same place I get my hair done) and he started to get worried. Finally as we were walking inside I had to give him a clue. He guessed right away that we were getting a couples massage. Scott was a little nervous to say the least. After the massage he confessed that he really liked it. I was so happy that he enjoyed it.

I continued the day of surprises with a trip to Scott's favorite Burger place in Middleton, WI.

Then we continued the fun day with a trip to my brother's apartment to watch the Badger Basketball team beat the #1 Ohio State Buckeyes. Here is a picture of the post-game celebration after the students rushed the court.

After the game Scott took over with the surprises. He made a reservation at Francesca's al Lago. It's a new restaurant in Madison off the Capital Square. We have been to Mia Francesca's in Chicago with my sister before. It was soooooooo yummy! By the time the real Valentine's Day arrived we continued our annual tradition...a Rocky Rococo's heart shaped pizza. Scott surprised me again with a wonderful Valentine's Day surprise, my favorite purple tulips, candy, and an extra special treat in a blue box with a white ribbon ;) What a great day!
Happy Valentine's Day to everyone :)

Snow Day 2011...

Scott's office was closed today and I stayed home from work. I wouldn't consider this a "vacation" because we woke up at 6:30am to start shoveling and snow blowing. The drifts on our backyard deck were taller than me and I'm 5'1". We had to clear the snow in order to let Kirby out to go to the bathroom. Poor Kirby was so confused. The ultimate goal of the day was to clear the snow by the hot tub so we could take a much needed dip after all the shoveling. It was a very long day and we are both sore from all the shoveling. Sounds like the Madison area had 17.6 inches of snow. Yikes...

Good Morning Snow...
The backyard deck...you can't even see the hot tub!
The snow was almost as high as the light on the left...
The front yard...
Scott is ready to start...
The driveway is done...the snow bank is taller than me!

We ended the day with some hot chocolate and cookies...

Dogs, Snowblowing, & Baby?

Right now we are currently on shoveling/snowblowing and dog duty for our Neighbors. They reported to the hospital to have their baby boy yesterday...but there is still NO news to report. While we were over at their house tonight we snapped a few pictures on my phone to help make the Mama smile...we are sending positive thoughts and happy vibes to the new parents...

36 hours and counting...GO JESSAMY GO!! :)

Not the best quality...but here is Rosie & Oliver

Hello Snow...SNOW.M.G.?

New Mexico to New England...and right now here in the Midwest! I took a few pictures tonight and I can't imagine what it will look like tomorrow morning. We should get anywhere from 12-18 inches. They've already closed ALL schools...even UW is closed. Should make for a very interesting day. As of right now...I'm still going to work tomorrow because our office is OPEN...eeeek!
Tried to take a picture of the front yard...
Jessamy (and Garret) are in labor right now and this is their house...
