Wobbly Walker...

Last week Harper walked on her own for the first time.  It's been a very fun week at our house watching her take baby steps.  She prefers to walk towards her Daddy.  She also likes to walk towards the bean bag chair, crash and then giggle.  She prefers to crawl because she can get from point A to point B faster and safer (she's fallen a few times and bumped her head or scared herself).  We are having so much fun watching her grow.

On Friday Scott's Mom came to visit.  It was so nice to have a low key weekend with Linda in town.  Linda was so kind to stay at home with Harper while Scott and I went to the Gopher vs. Badger basketball game with my parents.  It was a nail bitter but resulted in a Wisconsin WIN!

During the game our friend Jason Guttenberg presented a check for Coaches vs. Cancer.  (Jason 2nd from the right) In the past 3 years Jason has had 2 brain surgeries to remove brain tumors.  He just finished chemotherapy and received a clean bill of health.
They gave out free Coaches vs. Cancer t-shirts to everyone.  Here we are wearing our matching t-shirts! Scott looks thrilled ;)
Here is the picture of the last second shot that ultimately won the game!

On Saturday morning we had a lazy day with Harper.  We cuddled in bed and prepared her for her first sleepover at Nana Rosa and Gampy Mike's house.  Back in June Scott had his first night away from Harper when he went to Milwaukee.  This was my first night away from her.  It was really sad to think of a night away from our baby girl.  Although, we knew she was in great hands with my parents.  We decided to have a little fun on our night off.  We went to Francesca's with Adam and Carissa.  After dinner we went to the Great Dane to watch the Badger basketball team lose :(.  We decided that we were having SO much fun and we'd make a few more stops before going home.  We stopped at the Buck n Badger and the Ivory Room.  We ran into our co-workers and had an awesome time.  It was so nice to have a fun night out just like old times.

Sleepover in Jackson...

On Saturday we took a trip to Kyle Stoltz's new house in Jackson, WI.  Originally the plan was to leave Harper with Nana Rosa and Gampy Mike for a sleepover, but since she was still on antibiotics we decided to take her with us.  From Madison it's only 1.5 hours to Jackson and it's a scenic drive.  We miss Kyle and Alex so much.  This was a great way see their new house and spend some much needed time with them.  Here are some pictures from our fun weekend!

Our crazy life...

2013 has been anything but a dull and boring year for the O'Hinrichs clan.

Scott's sister, Amy, came to town for New Years Eve.  We had a low key night at our house.  We made a delicious seafood dinner including crab legs, scallops, and salad.  We laughed, drank, and rang in the new year.  We were thrilled that Amy came to visit.

The weekend of January 4th - Friday night Scott, Harper, and I went out to dinner.  We got home to a terrible surprise from our little furry daughter, Kirby.  She had eaten 2 tubes of Desitin (diaper rash creme). The Desitin has been in the same spot for 11 months and she has shown no interest until Friday night.  We quickly did some research and found out that your dog will violently start throwing up within 30 minutes of eating the creme.  We got home and she was throwing up within 5 minutes.  We called the Emergency Vet and they said she'd be ok after she got it out of her system but she would most likely be up the majority of the night.  We were up at 1:30 am when things started to get worse.  She was having an allergic reaction to the zinc oxide in the Desitin.  She broke out in hives under her fur that looked like grape sized bumps all over her body.  Scott quickly drove her to the Emergency Vet for a super duper dosage of Benadryl for dogs.  They gave her some charcoal for her tummy and sent him home.  We went to our regular vet the next morning and they did additional blood work and gave her a fluid backpack.  Poor Kirby didn't feel well that weekend and unfortunately the Vet told us that she probably won't learn from this experience.  We spent the rest of the weekend at home caring to our very sick little puppy.

A picture of Kirby at the Vet after her fluid backpack.  You can see the bulge in her back.
Funny sign at our vet...

Monday, January 7th Scott had to take Kirby back to the Vet for additional blood work to make sure everything was ok.  Thankfully Kirby was back to normal and we could carry on.  Unfortunately, when one child (our fur baby) gets better the other one gets sick.  We were at the After Hours Doctor for Harper on Monday night.  It was obvious that she had a bad case of Pink Eye.  I was shocked to hear the Doctor tell us that she had a double ear infection as well.  She was such a trooper and barely fussed.  I stayed home form work on Tuesday to take care of our little girl.  After a confirmed case of pink eye your little one can't return to daycare for 24 hours until the antibiotics start working.  On our day at home, even though she was under the weather it was enjoyable to have some Mommy and Harper time.

Sunday night at dinner when we noticed her eyes looked funny.
After her doctor visit on Monday night we had to stop at Target to pick up her meds.  She slept the entire time...
