2013 has been anything but a dull and boring year for the O'Hinrichs clan.
Scott's sister, Amy, came to town for New Years Eve. We had a low key night at our house. We made a delicious seafood dinner including crab legs, scallops, and salad. We laughed, drank, and rang in the new year. We were thrilled that Amy came to visit.

The weekend of January 4th - Friday night Scott, Harper, and I went out to dinner. We got home to a terrible surprise from our little furry daughter, Kirby. She had eaten 2 tubes of Desitin (diaper rash creme). The Desitin has been in the same spot for 11 months and she has shown no interest until Friday night. We quickly did some research and found out that your dog will violently start throwing up within 30 minutes of eating the creme. We got home and she was throwing up within 5 minutes. We called the Emergency Vet and they said she'd be ok after she got it out of her system but she would most likely be up the majority of the night. We were up at 1:30 am when things started to get worse. She was having an allergic reaction to the zinc oxide in the Desitin. She broke out in hives under her fur that looked like grape sized bumps all over her body. Scott quickly drove her to the Emergency Vet for a super duper dosage of Benadryl for dogs. They gave her some charcoal for her tummy and sent him home. We went to our regular vet the next morning and they did additional blood work and gave her a fluid backpack. Poor Kirby didn't feel well that weekend and unfortunately the Vet told us that she probably won't learn from this experience. We spent the rest of the weekend at home caring to our very sick little puppy.

Funny sign at our vet...
Monday, January 7th Scott had to take Kirby back to the Vet for additional blood work to make sure everything was ok. Thankfully Kirby was back to normal and we could carry on. Unfortunately, when one child (our fur baby) gets better the other one gets sick. We were at the After Hours Doctor for Harper on Monday night. It was obvious that she had a bad case of Pink Eye. I was shocked to hear the Doctor tell us that she had a double ear infection as well. She was such a trooper and barely fussed. I stayed home form work on Tuesday to take care of our little girl. After a confirmed case of pink eye your little one can't return to daycare for 24 hours until the antibiotics start working. On our day at home, even though she was under the weather it was enjoyable to have some Mommy and Harper time.
Sunday night at dinner when we noticed her eyes looked funny.
After her doctor visit on Monday night we had to stop at Target to pick up her meds. She slept the entire time...
Before bed on Monday her eyes barely opened...
