4th of July...

As always we headed NORTH for the 4th of July.  We spent 6 days in Alexandria with Scott's family.  The weather was perfect.  We golfed, played in the pool, went wakeboarding, jetskiing, boating, and hung out on the island oasis.  It was a relaxing week with family and we loved every minute of it! A big thanks to Jim and Linda for hosting the family and taking great care of us as always.

An attempt at taking a picture of both girls.  Ali kept stealing Harper's pacifier.  :)

This is what it would be like to have Twins.  You can't get both girls to look at the camera at the same time.

Harper Updates

Here are some fun milestones this past week for our little babe - Harper Rose...

1. Monday, June 17th - Cara and Harper spent our first night alone with out Scott.  We had a slumber party because Mama was afraid to sleep alone.

Helping Mama get ready for work in the morning...

2. Thursday, June 21st - Harper tried solid foods for the first time.  She enjoyed her first experience with sweet potatoes.  She did really well.  We've continued to try sweet potatoes and squash.  She has quickly learned to love the food and gets so excited during each feeding.  It's so cute to watch.

Yummy sweet potatoes

Harper was exhausted from eating squash that she fell asleep in her high chair...
3. Saturday, June 23rd - Harper's first tooth cut! It is her bottom front tooth.  The one next to it looks like it is ready to cut through very soon.  She rarely fussed when the tooth came through.  She woke from a sound sleep and screamed for an hour and fell back to sleep.  The next morning we realized what she was screaming about when we felt her little tooth poking through.  Her new best friend has become Sophie the giraffe.  She loves to teethe on her ears, nose, legs, etc.

4. Saturday, June 23rd - Harper rolled from front to back for the first time.  She did it while playing next to her cousin Ali.  She rolled twice that day.  She is very close to rolling from back to front but seems very content with staying on her side.  She doesn't really like to lay on her tummy so right now she's ok with staying on her back.
Harper is obsessed with standing.  If I try to sit her down she pushes up so she can stand.  Here she is practicing on Daddy's tummy...

Harper's first trip to Alexandria...

This past weekend - June 22-25th we traveled to Alexandria to visit with Grandma and Grandpa Hinrichs.  Harper had the pleasure of playing with her cousin Ali the entire weekend.  She had so much fun playing at the pool, driving in the golf cart, and playing golf.  Enjoy the pictures taken by Grandma Hinrichs.

End of an era...goodbye little Tribute

On Saturday we said goodbye to my white 2004 Mazda Tribute.  I bought that car after I graduated college.   It was my first big purchase and I had 8 great years driving it.  Sadly it was starting to cost a lot to repair and with a baby, a puppy, and many long trips to visit Scott's family we were starting to outgrow the Tribute.  It was time to upgrade and get a new car.  We purchased a 2012 Honda Pilot.  It took a few weeks to arrive because we really wanted a white one.  After patiently waiting we finally got our brand new car.  I've never had a new car before, so I'm very excited.  We will be taking our first road trip this weekend with our new car...I'm happy that we were able to transfer the license plates because the JPV (Junior Princess Vehicle - the letters on the plates) will carry on in the Pilot :)

Father's Day 2012

Father's Day 2012 marked a very special day in the O'Malley/O'Hinrichs family.  June 17th was exactly 6 months since my Dad's brain surgery.  We spent the weekend celebrating his life.  We took a trip to Village Green, had sushi, brunch with Grandpa O'Malley (my Grandpa) at Blackhawk, and then Dad grilled out a HUGE feast to say THANK YOU for everything we've done for him the past 6 months.  It was a very special day and we were so fortunate to be able to celebrate Father's Day this year with him.  Cheers to Dad - our little miracle man!

It was also a very special day because it was Scott's FIRST Father's Day.  Harper made him a photo book with pictures of her, an art project from daycare, a coffee cup with her pictures on it, and wore an outfit that said "I melt Daddy's heart" with a picture of an ice cream cone (pictured below).  He also got a Minnesota Twins swimsuit to wear at the lake house.  Scott is an amazing father and takes great care of our little girl.  He loves spending time with her and he continues to amaze me everyday.  We have a long journey ahead and I'm so happy that we get to spend it together! Cheers to Scott :)

Harper - 4 months...

I can hardly believe how fast these past 4 months have flown by.  Yesterday we had Harper's 4 month check up.  She was so excited to show the doctor her tricks.  She just started babbling the past week or two.  She has so much to say (apparently she follows in her Mama's footsteps).  We absolutely love the little sounds that she makes.  I can't help but laugh with her when she's talking.

Updates -
1. Still not rolling over yet.  I was a bad Mama and didn't do tummy time because Harper hated it.  Sadly this has delayed her ability to roll from front to back.
2. She is showing interest in rolling from back to front.
3. She sleeps on her side after she rolls half way.
4. We no longer swaddle her at night.
5. She began "talking" around 16 weeks.
6. She discovered her feet at 16 weeks.
7. She is showing interest in our food so we will start feeding rice cereal, oatmeal cereal, or veggies very soon.
8. She giggles when people talk to her.

4 Month Appointment Stats...

I think she will be a thumb sucker in the near future...

She also started at her daycare center yesterday.  She is in the Goodnight Moon classroom.  They will post weekly pictures on their website.  I will share those as they are posted.

I HEART MAUI...

A few weeks late...
On May 12th we left for Maui.  Amy (Scott's sister) came along for the trip to help with Harper.  We flew out of Minnesota so Grandma and Grandpa Hinrichs could visit with Harper and watch Kirby while we were gone.  Harper did amazing on the flights.  She was such a trooper! This is the annual trip that Scott win's through work - 9 years in a row!  We stayed at the Ritz Carlton in Maui.  We drank Blue Hawaiians, Mai Tais, Lava Flows, and some local beers.  It was an amazing trip and we are so thankful that Amy came with us to soak in the sun.  Here are a few pictures...

Back to Work...

Wow...12 weeks have come and gone oh so fast...this past Monday, May 7th I returned to work.  I was very sad to leave my little one behind.  I knew it would be hard so I started preparing a few weeks early.  I'm happy to say that both myself and  Harper have adjusted well.  It takes me a lot longer to get ready in the morning and get out the door and to get ready for bed every night.  So far it's been a great week back as my team welcomed me back with balloons and decorated my desk, my hubby and babies (Harper and Kirby) sent me flowers, and I come home every night to a very happy baby that smiles at me constantly! I'm a very proud wife and mother...
Here is Harper in the morning before daycare...

For the next 4 weeks Harper will be going to our good friend - Logan's older sister's (Ashley) house during the day.  She doesn't start at Once Upon a Time (the daycare in our neighborhood) until June 11th.  My awesome husband is doing drop off and pick up everyday for the next month.

I'm sad the 12 weeks are over but I'm so excited for whats ahead...I'm so in love with my little family!

Motherhood...

I apologize for the delay in posting these past 11 weeks.  Life is very different with a newborn.  I spend all my time soaking up every minute with little Harper.  The first 2 weeks were the biggest adjustment.  I was in extreme pain from the c-section and I was learning how to do everything.  After those 2 weeks I started to feel much more confident in my new Mommy role.  Here are some updates on what we've been up to...

1. Friday, Febryary 10th - Harper Rose Hinrichs was born @ 9:25 am.  She was 7lbs 8oz and 20 inches long.
2. Tuesday, February 14th - we left the hospital to take Harper home to meet Kirby.
3. Thursday, February 16th - Harper's first doctor's appointment.  She weighed in at 7lbs 5oz.  This was a big success as she dropped 11% of her birth weight in the hospital.
Jim, Linda, and Amy arrived from Minnesota. Harper's first visitors at home.
4. Sunday, February 19th - Harper's first bath at home.
5. Tuesday, February 21st - Harper's umbilical cord fell off at Grandpa and Nana Rosa's house.
4. Friday, February 24th - Harper's 2 week appointment - she weighed 8lbs 4.6oz - she was 7lbs 8oz when she was born.  I got my staples taken out at my 2 week follow up as well.
5. Friday, March 9th - Jim and Linda came to visit and celebrate Scott's Birthday. Harper was one month old and slept through the night for the first time.
6. Thursday, March 15 - Sunday, March 18 - MARCH MADNESS.  All the boys came over to watch basketball.  Harper cheered for the Badgers and celebrated her first St. Patrick's Day.
7. Monday, March 19th - Linda came to visit during her Spring Break.
8. Tuesday, March 20th - Cara's 6 week appointment. Still healing...
9. Friday, March 23rd - Shopping trip to the outlet malls with Harper.
10. Friday, April 6th - Took Harper to my hair cut appointment.  This was the first time I had to be out of the house and to an appointment early in the morning.  It was our first big challenge and it was a success.
11. Friday, April 6th - Our first date night since Harper was born.  We went to dinner and American Reunion while my parents watched Harper.  Unfortunately they had her during her fussy time so she cried for them, but they were able to rock her to sleep in her car seat (the car seat is magical)
12. Wednesday, April 11th - Harper's 8 week/2 month appointment.
Weight = 11lbs 13.2 oz - 76%
Height = 22.5 inches - 56%
Head Circumference = 39.9 cm - 78%
Harper did great with her shots and barely cried.  However, for the next 3 days she struggled to eat and cried a lot.
13. Thursday, April 12th - Our first road trip to Minnesota.  It usually takes us around 4hrs 15mns and it took us about 5 hours to get there this time.  We had to stop and feed, change a diaper, and let Kirby out ;).
14. Friday, April 13th - Harper and her cousin Ali met for the first time.  Linda's friends had a combined baby shower for the girls.
15. Sunday, April 15th - Ali's was baptised and we headed home.  Once again Harper did great in the car.
16. Friday, April 20th - Jim, Linda, Amy, Dave, Keri, and Ali came to visit for the weekend.
17. Saturday, April 21st - Harper's Baptism at St. Thomas Aquinas in Madison.
18. Tuesday, April 24th - Our first practice day at daycare.  We learned all about the daily activities, the room, the teachers, etc.  Harper's first day is June 11th.
19. Wednesday, April 25th - meeting with Ashley - our daycare provider from May 7th - June 8th.

It's a GIRL!! Welcome Harper Rose Hinrichs...

On Friday, February 10th @ 9:25 am, Harper Rose Hinrichs was welcomed into this world.  We were so surprised to find out that little baby Hinrichs was a girl.  We are so incredibly blessed and we couldn't be happier.  What an amazing journey ahead...

Thanks to all the visitors and supporters during Harper's first few weeks of life.  We love you all!
